Serial Number, Hardware Version, Software Model, Firmware Version

The VERSION log provides the active software model, product serial number (PSN), hardware model and version and the currently installed firmware version. All of these are needed for most support calls and subscription purchases.

Enter LOG VERSION and select the line beginning with GPSCARD.

Example:

The software model is an up to 15-character ASCII string which indicates the currently authorized receiver features. VERSION shows the model currently active on the receiver. The active model may be provided by a current subscription service period or by the selected permanent model as indicated in the DISPATCHSCHEDULE log. Other models may be available for selection with the MODEL command. These models are shown in the VALIDMODELS log.

The PSN in this line is the serial number of the OEM7 receiver card. If your receiver is in an enclosure or SMART antenna, that enclosure may have a separate PSN which is shown in the line starting with ENCLOSURE and is printed on the enclosure label. Both the card PSN and the enclosure PSN will work for support calls or subscription purchases.

The hardware version string identifies both the OEM7 card type and the revision of the hardware. An enclosure will also have a hardware version and revision in the ENCLOSURE line.

The firmware version string provides many details, but the key values are the 7 in 3rd character, for OEM7, and characters 6-9, which are the feature and maintenance revisions. These are often written in the form 7.FF.MM (eg 7.08.10) in documentation. The latest versions are available at the NovAtel web site (novatel.com/support/support-materials/firmware-download). See Firmware updates for instructions.
