Authorization code
An authorization code, commonly known as an auth-code, is the legacy method to deliver permanent software model upgrades to an OEM7 receiver. See Receiver Features: Authorization and Subscriptions for other delivery methods. Receiver features purchased with the hardware are shipped as a software model already installed on the hardware. These can be upgraded at any time. Software model upgrades can be purchased through the NovAtel eStore, NovAtel or Veripos dealers, NovAtel M2M interface or by contacting novatel.com/support.
Auth-codes and software model upgrade purchases are specific to a particular receiver card as identified by its Product Serial Number (PSN). Availability of certain receiver features depends on the receiver hardware model and the installed firmware version. You may have to upgrade to the latest firmware version to enable certain receiver features. Obtain these as described in Serial Number, Hardware Version, Software Model, Firmware Version before purchasing a software model upgrade. If you choose to use the auth-code delivery method, you will be given an auth-code in the form:
XXXXXX,XXXXXX,XXXXXX,XXXXXX,XXXXXX,MODEL
For example:
7WBMBK,887CB6,K5J3FH,5DF5P2,42PW8G,DDNPYNTMN
The model name may be up to 15 ASCII characters. The auth-code is case insensitive. Apply this code to the receiver to upgrade to this model as outlined in Applying a Software Model with an auth-code.
If the model requires a new firmware version, refer to Firmware updates.
Firmware images may also have auth-codes embedded within them. The models provided by such firmware images will be valid only on receivers with certain PSNs and Hardware Models.
