Subscription Period

Subscription Start Date

The subscription start date is the date you intend to start using the Correction Services on the receiver, not the date the subscription was purchased on NeCSClosed NovAtel e-Commerce System.

When the subscription is purchased, the subscription start date can be set to any day within a maximum number of days from the date of subscription purchase. The maximum number of days depends on the type of subscription purchased.

  • Fixed: 90 days from purchase date

  • Trial: 7 days from purchase date

  • Flex: 120 days from purchase date

If a start date is not selected when the subscription is purchased, the start date is set to the maximum number of days from date of purchase. These maximums are configurable, and the values listed above are the default values for each subscription type.

The start date can be changed if the subscription has not started and the new date is within the configured maximum number of days from purchase. This can be done on any sales channel. There is no limit on the number of times the start date can be moved.

Renewals always start at the end of subscription that is being renewed, regardless of when the renewal is purchased.

Determining the Start and End Dates and Times

If selecting an immediate service start:

Start date:

  • If purchase is at 12:00 UTC or earlier in the day, the start day will be the UTC day - 1.

  • If purchase is later than 12:00 UTC, the start day will be the UTC day.

End date:

  • Start date + duration.

If selecting a scheduled start (date in the future):

Start date:

  • The chosen date.

End date:

  • The start date + duration - 1

For firmware capable of dispatch start and end time:

Start time:

  • The receiver will begin running the service at local solar midnight of the start day.

The local solar midnight time is computed from the longitude of the receiver, which may not match the time of the time zone that it is in; receivers very close to time zone boundaries may be in the next closest time zone.

End time:

  • The receiver will end at the end of the end date (right before local solar midnight of the following day).

For legacy firmware (and SmartNet) start and end time:

Start time:

  • 00:00 UTC of the start day.

End time:

  • 23:59 UTC of the end day.

Subscription Duration:

Both TerraStar and SmartNet subscriptions use calendar durations. This means if a one-month subscription is purchased on the 8th of the month, it will end at midnight on the 7th of the following month regardless of the number of days in the month it was purchased. Similarly with other subscription durations: a six-month subscription purchased on January 20th will end July 19th at midnight. In the case of months that have fewer days than the designated end day, the subscription will end on the final day of the month. For example, a one-month subscription purchased on January 30 would end at midnight of February 28 (or February 29 in the case of a leap year).
