Subscription ID
The Subscription ID is a unique identifier for a linked series of related, subsequent contracts for subscriptions of the same service family (i.e., TerraStar, SmartNet+, Waypoint). Actions to contracts, including edits, renewals, service upgrades and transfers, can be viewed as a part of a Subscription ID's history of transactions and will not generate a new Subscription ID, even if a new contract ID is generated. Purchases using an existing Subscription ID will also link the new contract under the provided Subscription ID.
Each Subscription ID can only have one active and one pending contract linked at the same time; this restriction exists because multiple active contracts per PSN is currently not supported.
For SmartNet+ and Waypoint orders of multiple quantities (i.e., bulk orders), each order line will be assigned a separate Subscription ID such that each contract ID / activation ID would have its own Subscription ID. Subsequent transactions on those contract IDs / activation IDs will then be linked under the existing Subscription ID.
Other behaviours to note for Waypoint Subscription IDs are:
-
When a term license is renewed, the renewed license can be tied together with the same Subscription ID.
-
Each perpetual license will have its own Subscription ID but all PCS support licenses purchased for a perpetual license will have the same Subscription ID as the linked perpetual license.
Subscription IDs look like: SUB_TYPE_123456
Benefits and Use Cases
-
Related contracts can be linked together with a single identifier.
Examples:
-
Contracts that have been renewed consecutively can be linked together with a Subscription ID.
-
Contracts that have been transferred will cancel the old contract ID and generate a new contract ID, but the Subscription ID will stay the same
-
Contracts that have been extended will retain the same Subscription ID.

A search using the Subscription ID can be used to view a full history of all of the related contracts; for TerraStar and SmartNet+ with PSN, this also gives insight into the transaction history on a single PSN as Subscription IDs are unique to each PSN.
