SmartNet+ Correction Services

To use a SmartNet+ subscription and obtain an RTK solution, perform the following steps.

  1. Ensure the GNSS system has the required components. See Hardware requirements.

  2. Ensure the OEM7 receiver has a model that supports SmartNet+. See Receiver models needed for a SmartNet+ subscription.

  3. Enable L-Band tracking on the receiver. See Enable L-Band Tracking for RTK ASSIST.

Hardware requirements

To use a SmartNet+ subscription, the GNSS system requires the following components:

  • An OEM7 receiver.

  • An internet connection for the OEM7 receiver.

  • A GNSS antenna capable of receiving L-Band signals.

Receiver models needed for a SmartNet+ subscription

Specific receiver models are required to use the correction data provided by a SmartNet+ subscription.

To check the model of the receiver:

  1. Request the VERSION log to view the current receiver model.

  2. Compare the model number of the receiver to the model required for a SmartNet+ subscription. The fourth character of the receiver model must be an R to use a SmartNet+ subscription.

    In the example above, the receiver model number is FFNRNNCBES1.

  3. If the receiver does not have the minimum model required, contact your local NovAtel sales representative to upgrade the receiver model.

Configuration example:

When connected to the NovAtel receiver using either NovAtel Application Suite or another terminal program, use the following commands to configure the SmartNet+ NTRIP connection on NCOM1:

LOG PASSNCOM1 ONCHANGED (will report the welcome message when setup successfully)

NTRIPCONFIG NCOM1 CLIENT V1 server:port mountpoint username password ALL

INTERFACEMODE NCOM1 RTCMV3 NOVATEL OFF

LOG NCOM1 GPGGA ONTIME 5 (receiver location data)

Replace server, port, mountpoint, username, and password with SmartNet+ supplied credentials and server information.

Enable L-Band Tracking for RTK ASSIST

The receiver must be powered and tracking an L-Band signal from a TerraStar satellite prior to the planned activation time. Send the ASSIGNLBANDBEAM command to configure the receiver to track the L-Band signals from TerraStar satellites.

To confirm the receiver is tracking an L-Band signal, request the LBANDTRACKSTAT log to view the L-Band tracking status information.

If the receiver is tracking an L-Band signal from a TerraStar satellite, the tracking status word (shown in bold in the example above) of the LBANDTRACKSTAT log will be 00c2. In the example above, the tracking status word indicates that the receiver has locked onto the signal from 98W and AORW, but not POR.
